Introduction:

Hello everyone it is 🍆🪵, bringing the 🪵 for your 🫵 3rd weekly preview of the 2024 Season 🏈🏟️🚗👏. Last week we pounced on the Georgia State Panthers, beating them 35-12 on the Flats, with QB Haynes King and WR Malik Rutherford showing out in the victory. Beware everyone! Georgia Tech is SHARK INFESTED WATERS 🦈🩸💦🌊 but I’ve heard those waters are heading up north. We travel to Syracuse, NY to face off against the Syracuse Orange (Vitamin C DEEZ NUTS 🍊) and try to go 3-0 to begin our 2024 campaign.

Quick Game Summary and Notes

1. A Georgia State Patrol Officer almost got trucked by the Reck. Sheamus runs with the team onto the field

2. GSU started with the ball and drove down the field but Tech had a clutch clutch clutch goal line stand. Ahmari Harvey brought the BOOM!!!! 🦈

3. We couldn’t move the ball on Offense but GSU gifts us the ball when Zeek Biggers recovers a fumble. Jamal Haynes scores TD on 4th down from the 1. Jackets up 7-0.

4. On one of the next offensive possessions, Haynes King runs for a 60 yd TD but it gets called back for holding ☹️ . Boo Official!

5. Defense looks questionable but holds GSU offense off the board until late late late in the second quarter.

6. Tech gets the ball back up 7-3 with time dwindling in the 2nd quarter. King marches down the team down the field and with just seconds on the clock Tech is faced with a sitch. Its 4th and Goal on the GSU 1 yard line and Key keeps the offense on the field. Turns out to be a good decision, Haynes King bursts up the middle for a 1yd TD run. Tech goes into the locker room up 14-3

7. Tech gets the ball to start the 2nd half and Eric Singleton scores a TD right in front of our eyes on a end around run. Tech up 21-3 (GSpoooooo)

8. Jackets D holds and King finds a wide open Malik Rutherford for a huge TD pass. Jackets up 28-3 …. Marta Bowl Champs in sight

9. King throws his first interception of the season and GSU puts some more points on the board but its too little too late for the Panthers

10. Tech officially puts the game away when King throws a TD to tight end Avery Boyd (his first TD of the season and possibly his GT career?) and Tech leads 35-12

11. Fast forward to the end of the game. Tech wins the unofficial and inaugural Marta Bowl 35-12.

12. At the end of the game my favorite player Anthony “Scoota” Carrie got in the game and ran for 41 yards. Big things to come from the freshman Youtube sensation

Cuse Profile:

• Cuse has a new HC named Fran Brown

  • They hired Brown from UGA where he was the DB coach

  • He coached previously at Temple, Baylor, and Rutgers but has never held a HC role

  • He is touted as one of the nation’s best recruiters - named the top recruiter by 247 Sports.

  • Defensive minded HC

• Syracuse’s team is going to look a lot different than last year

  • If you remember we beat them last year to secure a bowl game but at the time they were between coaches and didn’t really have a QB

  • This team is miles different and picked up some key transfers in the portal

• Kyle McCord - QB #6

  

  • Ohio St. transfer who threw for 350 yds and 4 TDs against the Bobcats last week

  • Third team All Big Ten selection last year and won 11 out of 12 games

  • Highly accurate QB, completing over 66% of his passes which is 4th all time in Buckeye history

• Marlowe Wax - LB #2

  

  • Senior linebacker who has played in all 49 games since coming to Cuse

  • In his career has over 35 TFLs, 16 sacks, and 8 forced fumbles

  • Has led the team in tackles both of the last two years

• Oronde Gadsden II - TE #19

  

  • Breakout year in 2022 where he nearly had 1000 yards receiving

  • Suffered season ending injury at the beginning of the season last year

  • Led the team on Sat. with 108 receiving yards and a TD

  • Highest ranked player on NCAA 25 - 91 overall

• Cuse won their first game against Ohio University last Sat. 38-22

  • Ohio’s top RB ran for over 200 yards on the Cuse defense

  • Expect lots and lots of running from the Jackets this weekend

Dwood’s 🔑s to the Game:

1. Establish the run 🏃 game early and often. If there is a weak spot to this new Fran Brown led defense it is going to be in the trenches and we need to capitalize on it

2. Control the clock 🕰️ and pace 💨 of the game. We beat FSU because we had long methodical drives that kept our defense rested and off the field. We need a couple of those this week.

3. This will be a key each week because truthfully it is the key to the season. Haynes King needs to continue to take care of the football 🏈. His pick against GSU was a bad one 🤬(under pressure tried to force the ball). He won’t be able to make those mistakes against ACC opponents and us be in the driver 🚗 seat to win.
